Surf sports is one of the foundations of the surf lifesaving movement. Juniors can participate in carnivals from U8 (Little Dudes), providing a healthy lifestyle as well as gain recognition for their sporting efforts at the same time.
At Palm Beach SLSC we provide a competitive environment for all skill levels based on participation and having fun. Carnivals are a great way to get involved with the Club for both parents and children.
There are entry fees associated with carnivals payable by the Club and members contribute to these costs through levies. More information on carnival entry and associated fees is communicated throughout the season. It is important for parents to read all Club Policies, in particular the Competitor Policy and Fundraising Policy, to understand the commitments and obligations of members wishing to compete.
When representing Palmy, in addition to being decked out in our club swimwear, cap and rashies, competitors remember the following simple mantra when putting on their club cap…
“LIGHT BLUE ON THE LEFT”!
Junior Carnival Competency
For Nippers to be eligible to compete at carnivals they must have completed the Competition Evaluation relevant to their age group and this must be signed by an eligible Club assessor. This is undertaken at Nippers and only to be completed by those wishing to compete in carnivals in age groups U8 to U14.
Supporting our Nippers at Carnivals – become an Official
With the growth of competitors at Palm Beach in the past few seasons, we are in urgent need to qualify volunteers to act as officials to assist on competition days. It is a requirement that the club must provide Officials based on the number of competitors entered.
Becoming an Official is easy and it is a great way to get involved and support ‘Team Palmy! Dates for Officials courses can be found under the Courses and Awards page.
How to become an Official
- Complete a short online course
- Attend a 2hr practical theory component
- Attend carnivals first as a probationary official before being signed off as a qualified official.
- Have fun while supporting Team Palmy.
We can never have enough officials at Palmy. Register your interest today by contacting the Club or completing this Course interest jotform.
