They were in trouble.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So in swooped the wonderful folk at <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/watergum.org\/turtlewatch\/\">TurtleWatch<\/a><\/strong>, and the eggs were relocated to SeaWorld for incubation, where they hatched two months later.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It was upon their return to the original nest that things got awkward. You see, we were the cause of the turtles heading to the Club and not the ocean. And we didn&#8217;t want that!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1001\" height=\"667\" src=\"https:\/\/www.palmbeachsurfclub.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2024\/10\/lost-turtle.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-7674\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.palmbeachsurfclub.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2024\/10\/lost-turtle.jpg 1001w, https:\/\/www.palmbeachsurfclub.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2024\/10\/lost-turtle-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.palmbeachsurfclub.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2024\/10\/lost-turtle-768x512.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1001px) 100vw, 1001px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>It turns out that little hatchlings confuse our bright lights for the moon and they head to the Club. So we stuck our neck out and decided to flip the switch!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In collaboration with the lighting gurus at <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/raylinc.com.au\/\">Raylinc Lighting<\/a><\/strong> and the turtle-saving superstars at <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/watergum.org\/turtlewatch\/\">TurtleWatch<\/a><\/strong>, gone are the bright, blinding floodlights that turned our deck into a turtle disco.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We\u2019ve swapped the lights out for eco-friendly, amber wavelength lights that won\u2019t mess with our shelled friends\u2019 sense of direction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>No more turtle tangos on the sand\u2014just smooth sailing toward the ocean and adulthood!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1000\" height=\"667\" src=\"https:\/\/www.palmbeachsurfclub.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2024\/10\/lh-turtles.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-7675\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.palmbeachsurfclub.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2024\/10\/lh-turtles.jpg 1000w, https:\/\/www.palmbeachsurfclub.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2024\/10\/lh-turtles-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.palmbeachsurfclub.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2024\/10\/lh-turtles-768x512.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1000px) 100vw, 1000px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Here\u2019s the scoop:<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Orb Lights Out<\/strong>: Six orb lights on the deck? Gone! Now it&#8217;s just the right mood lighting for turtles to find the ocean without a hitch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>LUX Values Reduced<\/strong>: We\u2019ve dropped our lighting from a bright 31 to a cool 7.
