New and returning members to our Club can undertake a range of courses to obtain the skills necessary to be involved in patrols on our beach, or to help out at Nippers or during carnivals. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Course<\/strong><\/th>Details<\/strong><\/th>Prerequisites<\/strong><\/th><\/tr><\/thead>
Bronze Medallion<\/strong>
(15 years or older)<\/td>		Participants will be taught the skills necessary to become a patrolling lifesaver and\/or undertake water safety at nippers and training.
<\/td>		– 400mtr Pool swim in 9 minutes or less
– Be a financial member
– Have a valid Blue Card
– Attain your Unique Student Identifier (USI) number 
– Checklist<\/a><\/strong><\/td><\/tr>
Surf Rescue Certificate<\/strong> (SRC)
(13 – 15 year old)<\/td>		Participants learn skills and knowledge of basic patrolling and surf awareness in order to be able to participate in lifesaving operations and act in the role of Water Safety Personnel.<\/td>– Be a financial member
– Participants must be a minimum of 13 years of age by assessment date.
– Swim requirement is 200m in 5 minutes
– LUI number

First Aid<\/strong><\/td>
A first aid course teaches essential lifesaving skills, including CPR, wound care, and handling emergencies like choking or fractures. Participants learn to assess and respond swiftly to medical crises, gaining confidence to assist others effectively in critical situations.<\/td>		– Minimum age 14
– Financial member
– Hold Blue Card (over 18 years of age)
– Be an active patrolling member <\/td><\/tr>
Advanced Resuscitation Techniques (ART)<\/strong><\/td>Advanced Resuscitation Techniques are advanced methods used to save someone’s life during emergencies like cardiac arrest. They involve specialized skills and tools to help restart the heart and improve chances of survival.<\/td>– Hold a Bronze Medallion and First Aid<\/strong> HLTAID011<\/strong>.
– Minimum of 15 years of age at date of assessment<\/td><\/tr>
Tractor & SSV Induction<\/strong><\/td>Get qualified to drive our Tractor and\/or ATV<\/td>– Tractor: min 20 years old, full licence, proficient award holder
– SSV: min 17 years old, P or Open licence, proficient award holder.<\/td><\/tr>
Marine Licence<\/strong><\/td>Please note: This is the only course the Club does not cover.<\/em>
You are required to have a Marine License prior to undertaking your IRB Drivers course.<\/td>		– Must hold a car licence
– Bronze Medallion
<\/td><\/tr>
IRB Crew Member & IRB Driver<\/strong>
<\/td>		Want to be a crew member or drive the Inflatable Rescue Boats? Each Patrol Group must have at least one of each on each patrol, and IRB Crews are often required at Nipper carnivals. These are crucial skills for our lifesavers to obtain.<\/td>– Hold a Bronze Medallion.
– IRB Crew award is a prerequisite to obtain IRB Driver.
– Marine Boat Licence listed in their
– Members Portal area before commencing IRB Driver course<\/td><\/tr>
Patrol Captains course (Silver Medallion)<\/strong>
Patrol Captain’s Course<\/td>		This course allows you to become a Patrol Captain or Vice Captain. Courses are held at the Point Danger Branch Office. <\/td>Must hold a Bronze Medallion and have patrolled for a minimum 2 years.<\/td><\/tr>
Observers Course<\/strong><\/td>Not keen on the water or swimming but still want to patrol as a First Aid Officer or drive the tracker and ATV? This could be the course for you. <\/td>No prerequisites<\/td><\/tr>
Officials Course <\/strong><\/td>Great way to be involved at carnivals and help volunteer at the club. If you don\u2019t have an active role at the club, this award is a great way to have fun and get involved!<\/td>– Financial Member<\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n\n\n
