Surf sports is one of the foundations of the surf lifesaving movement. Juniors can participate from U/8 through to U/19’s providing a healthy lifestyle as well as gain recognition for their sporting efforts at the same time.
At ‘Palmy’ we provide a competitive environment for all skill levels based on participation and having fun. Carnivals are a great way to get involved with the Club for both parents and the kids.
There are entry fees associated with carnivals payable by the Club and these fees differ between events. More information on carnival entry and associated fees will be communicated throughout the season.
See the 2018/19 Carnival Calendar.
We have one simple rule to remember when representing Palmy…
“LIGHT BLUE ON THE LEFT”!
COACH – Tenille Devine
Tennille’s involvement in Surf Lifesaving goes way back as a ‘green cap’ (u/6) at Tallebudgera SLSC. Coming from Brisbane her family would make the weekly trek down the M1 over summer. He passion is for ski paddling but over the years has achieved results across a number of disciplines within Surf Sports.
- Gold medal in the Open IRB tube rescue
- Competed one season as boatie as the 2ndbow
- Raced 4 x Coolangatta Gold’s finishing 7ththree times
- Competitor in the Nutrigrain Ironman series
Later in her career she moved to North Burleigh to experience what it was like to compete in team events. She combined with other big names of the sport including Liz Plummers, Brodie Moir and Tara Coleman.
As a level 2-surf coach Tenille is excited to return to her local community and coach the athletes of Palm Beach. Tenille explains, that even when competing and patrolling for other clubs Palmy always had a vibe and that everyone was welcome.
I like that you can sit at the club, see the water and watch the athletes train and Nippers is on Saturday so I sill get my lazy Sunday! Palmy has a bus, so the opportunity to travel as a team and create lasting memories is never missed.
This coming season I am looking forward to training a group of athletes that are confident and tough in a variety of conditions.
JUNIOR CARNIVAL COMPETENCY
For children to be eligible to compete at carnivals they must have completed the Competition Evaluation by an eligible assessor (which the club will provide). These are only to be completed by those wishing to compete in carnivals. U8 to U14.
URGENT – OFFICIALS REQUIRED!
With the growth of competitors at Palm Beach the past few seasons, we are in urgent need to qualify volunteers to act as officials to assist on competition days. It is a requirement that the club must provide officials based on the number of competitors entered.
Based on competitor numbers last year and our projected growth we need to provide three officials for each age group.
Becoming an official is easy and it is a great way to get involved and support ‘Team Palmy’!
